Psalm 55

Psalm 55 appears to be a psalm that David records as he flees from his son Absalom. 2Sam 15
He hastens his escape into the wilderness. 2sam 15:23, Ps 55:7-8 David mourns over his close counsellor betraying him. (Ps 55:12-14) He ends the Psalm with words that become prophetic of both his son Absalom and of Shimei. "bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days.
In the midst of this awful trial of betrayal, David gives these words, (vs 22)" cast thy burden upon the LORD and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved".
I desire to daily give my burden to the LORD. I want to trust him to keep me and deliver me as my need requires.
Peter later echos similar words when he says (1Peter 5:6) humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that he might exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you".
Rather than casting stones and dust upon others as Shimei did to David, I want to give or cast my burden upon the LORD.

Dont be eaten up or consumed by the unrighteous actions of others. Dont seek to retaliate, but rather take it to the LORD.

The Path of the Just

Proverbs 4:18 "The path of the just is as the shining light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day."

This scripture, pictures our walk with God as his children that are developing and growing in the understanding of his plan and of his nature. The morning sunrise starts as a brightening eastern horizon which continually increases in luminescense until it is a full, direct sunlight. This is how God wants our walk with him to be. We start our walk with God in limited light, but as we follow his path, our illumination or light of understanding grows. God's eventual desire for us is that we would see him clearly, in full light.

Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my pathway".

Rev 21:24 "the nations of them that are saved shall walk in the light of it (the city, new Jerusalem).

Eph 1:17-18 "That ...God ... may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know...".

We learn of God and our path is enlightened. I believe that we can grow in God through all of our experiences, whether pleasant or not, whether we are clearly led by him, or are taking one obscured step at a time in a limited leading of God. God's purpose is that we ultimately see him clearly and apply what we have learned to our own lives.

If we walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:7
